Background

Increasing market penetration within a geographic area is a key element of top-line revenue growth for cable companies. One way that cable operators increase market penetration is by extending their plant (network) and acquiring new customers in newly constructed housing developments and multi-dwelling complexes. This activity is commonly referred to as "new build" within the industry.

New build construction management is a complex value-chain activity for cable operators. The process spans multiple internal organizations, and includes many external participants such as construction contractors and local government agencies. It requires the coordinated, cooperative efforts of many participants focused on a common goal: acquiring new customers on new plant.  Clear processes and responsibilities, as well as strong communication among process participants, is mandatory.
